RELAUNCH OF MEDICINAL RESEARCH IN CAMEROON

Execute research programs in medicinal disciplines, with a view to improving health conditions through better knowledge of the pathological, epidemiological, preventive therapeutic and nutritional aspects of populations. These are the main missions assigned to the IMPM. The Institute of Medical Research and Studies of Medicinal Plants (IMPM) is a Public Establishment of a scientific and technical nature. It has legal personality and financial autonomy, the structure of which is composed of:

• Research and Valorization;
• The Administrative and Financial Division;
• The Research Centers are;
• The Medical Research Center (CRM);
• The Food and Nutrition Research Center (CRAN);
• The Center for Research in Medicinal Plants and Traditional Medicine (CRPM)

THE MEDICAL RESEARCH CENTER

The Medical Research Center is responsible for developing appropriate methods for improving health conditions, in particular: The Medical Research Center includes:

• The functional explorations laboratory;
• The anatomy and pathological cytology laboratory;
• The human biology laboratory;
• The research laboratory on bilharzia and parasitic diseases;
• The endocrinology and radioelements laboratory;
• The Kumba tropical medicine station.

THE RESEARCH CENTER FOR MEDICINAL PLANTS AND TRADITIONAL MEDICINE

This center is responsible for carrying out research programs leading to a better knowledge of pharmacopoeia and traditional Cameroonian medicine, with a view to providing appropriate medicines and therapies using local natural substances as much as possible. The center includes:

• The pharmacology laboratory;
• The pharmaceutical technology laboratory
